This lonely fisherman sits on his bench every day along the boardwalk in Sidney, BC. Steve stopped to talk to him about the mystery girl who sets a fresh flower in his hands every morning but, being the shy type, the fisherman refused to say her name. After a brief chat, we walked to the end of the pier to watch boats, people, seagulls, schools of fish swimming by and a sealion playing in the water.

For future reference, men planning a surprise anniversary trip for their wives need to know: Vancouver, BC is not on Vancouver Island. One poor couple we encountered in Port Angeles was a long way from where they thought they needed to be to celebrate their 40th.
